Managing IFTA - tax matrix

IFTA Tax matrix is a set of fuel tax for US states and Canadian provinces. It is used for automatic IFTA calculation, see [IFTA Calculation]. You can download a pre-compiled matrix from the web, or edit / save your own.

Each matrix has the state tax information. The matrix also has the start and end date thus defining the time frame of the given quarter. We name the matrix based on the year and the quarter of that year. So, for instance, the matrix for the first quarter of this year is named 2007-1.ifta, the first number being the year and the second is the quarter.

If you compile your own matrix be sure to specify the time frame. When you run the IFTA calculation the program will use the time frame specified in the matrix to pull up all fuel and mile records in the trips dispatched within that time frame.
This is all in Gallons and only for diesel trucks. Not sure about Canada at this point. So use with caution.

This is only to help you figure out what the IFTA going to be like, you will have to fill out the form for your state. At present the software does not print the IFTA in the proper form for each state.

Additional Information:

Download the PFD file (link at the top of this page) that explains how to prepare and file your IFTA.
