Software - Install on Vista
Nautilus Setup freezes on Vista
In some cases the setup on Vista hangs
for an indefinite period of time. This happens when Microsoft
Installer throws an erroneous message "Microsoft Installer quit
working...". To make matters worse the message sometime hides
behind the installation screen and therefore invisible to the user.
To get this message to the foreground
press "Alt" key on your keyboard and while you hold it
press "Tab" key. This will cycle through the windows
layered on your desktop. Bring the message to the foreground and
dismiss it. The error message is bogus and does not prevent the
software from installing.
This is a Microsoft installer bug on
Vista, and Microsoft support has no idea why it happens or when they
are going to fix it. For now just close out of the error message and
continue install. The message has no affect on the installation. Also see [this article] if you need to remove the software
